Mack H. Godfrey Fellowship Hall
Elder Godfrey and Family
Elder Houston was looking to sell the building and looking for a predecessor to carry on the vision and while visiting the convocation in Memphis he met Elder Curry and told him about the church needing a pastor so Elder Curry with excitement conveyed the news to Bishop Chandler Owens of Greater Community C.O.G.I.C. and they all visited the church and during this time Pastor was unemployed and received a call to accompany them in looking at the church and as a group effort decided to hold a week revival. Pastor Clayton traveled back to Marietta but Elder Godfrey and Elder Slayton stayed during the course of the revival with Elder Curry. After some time passed, It was then Elder Houston and Elder Godfrey visited Greater Community where Pastor and First Lady were members to ask Bishop Owens if he would consider Elder Clayton to be pastor for Souls for Christ. In doing so, after hearing Elder Clayton preach they decided he would be a better fit for the ministry. Being a young man and new to the ministry he accepted the challenge. It has been said by many throughout the community that Pastor Clayton has continued with the vision just as God gave it to Elder Houston. Pastor Clayton along with Elder Godfrey, Elder Slaton and Elder Collins has worked side by side on numerous occasions to enhance the physical appearance of Souls for Christ. Elder Godfrey however has remained an active part of the ministry. It is because of Elder Godfrey's obedience to God is why Pastor felt compelled to name our fellowship hall the Mack H. Godfrey Fellowship Hall which will remain for years to come and become a part of God's vision.
